A situation in which the body notices a downfall in the amount of neutrophils from the body can be term as Neutropenia. Not many neutropenia symptoms are there that a person can detect, so be careful and look for diagnosis. White blood cells that protect fungi and bacteria from invading in the body are called neutrophils.
Special enzymes are there in these white blood cells. It digests the agents that can prove infectious to the body. This process can be called as phagocytosis. These white blood cells are the most abundant of them all. More than 45%-75% of neutrophil type white blood cells are there to be constituted.
A lot of circulating white blood cells are there in the body, but when these blood cells start reducing, and then this is the condition of neutropenia. This reduction will make the body more reluctant to infections. It is a hard job for a person to determine or identify the neutropenia symptoms. It is the case in mild neutropenia. However, strong neutropenia also does not have significant signs of its appearance or occurrence. Doctors make use of ANC for evaluating the neutropenia severity, and it gets measured on the basis of cells per ml. of blood.
When the cell count comes greater than 1000 and less than 1500, then it is the condition of mild neutropenia. Moderate stage of neutropenia reaches to less than 500. Cyclic neutropenia is a disorder of blood that rarely appears. In this, the blood cells reduce in a cyclic form or pattern. It means that neutrophil reduces in numbers, and then it comes back again after some time. Hardly any chances are there for any neutropenia symptoms to easily come into notice.
Two causes are there that can lead to the occurrence of Neutropenia. First is the decreased production of white blood cells called neutrophils, and second is the increased destruction of these cells. All these cause many have neutropenia symptoms. Cancer, anemia, deficiency in vitamin B12, and other deficiencies are the conditions that can affect the production of neutrophils in the bone marrow. Another alternative disorder of blood is the congenital neutropenia. Viral infection can also create disturbance in the proper functioning of the bone marrow.
Treatments for disease like cancer can also be a reason for neutrophils destruction. Autoimmune neutropenia is the condition that takes place due to cancer treatment surgeries. Infections can also lead to the destruction of neutrophils to a certain extent. Severe infections force the body to use neutrophils in large numbers. This results in a decrease in production of neutrophils.
Many other alternate cause are there that lead to the development of neutropenia. Mononucleosis, malaria, blood cells destructions, and few other causes are there that can enable neutropenia symptoms. These symptoms, however, stay in an absent mode. Neutropenia symptoms work silently without coming in consideration of the person in which they exist. It can be dangerous for a person if these symptoms went without coming in notice of that person. Severe infections from neutropenia can somehow help in detection of this disease.
