Having low triglycerides is becoming more common, particularly with the introduction of extremely low fat and low carbohydrates in the fitness industry; however this is not the root or the only cause. Triglycerides are a type of fat that is naturally produced in the body, mainly by excess calories consumed. It is also present in certain foods that are common in the average diet.
Having low triglycerides is good for your body
It is more than correct to say that you should try and keep low triglycerides at all times and if you start noticing high triglycerides symptoms then your health may be at risk. Some would even go as far to say that keeping this level low is as important as exercising and maintaining a low weight.

Whilst a high triglycerides level has been associated with high cholesterol and heart problems, there might be a time when trying to achieve a higher level is suitable. Whilst having low triglycerides is advantageous, some of the high triglycerides symptoms can help them get to where they want to be.
A higher triglyceride level can simply be achieved by adding more fats to your diet along with extra calories. Whilst having a high fat diet will help remove low triglycerides; if you eat too many fats and not enough carbohydrates, then you may go into a state called “Ketosis” by which your body changes to use fats as your primary source of energy. This will only maintain or cause you to lose weight.
Simply adding more calories in proteins, carbohydrates and fats is essentially the best way to increase the level of triglycerides in your body. This should help you gain some weight and achieve the look or feel you are aiming for.
The most important thing to remember with regards to your triglyceride levels is that even though low triglycerides are healthy, they can be related to very nasty diseases and it is important that you get checked up frequently as a general precaution.
